Joe checked in for the Toronado out of Pierpoint Landing. We are out tonight for sure for a 1.5 trip. We are going to head out to the banks as our target. There are tuna and yellowtail at the banks and that's what we want to get. The bass fishing was excellent with good action all day long on really nice size sand bass and calico bass. Barracuda were a little trickier, but we had enough to keep everyone busy. Bobby checked in for the City of Long Beach out of Pierpoint Landing. Pretty decent fishing here. Our 56 angers got pretty close to limits of sculpin, 78 sand bass, 7 or 8 calico bass, 4 barracuda, and a few rockfish. Not too bad, but really good sculpin fishing with some good-sized sculpin. Got some variety of fish so far with a couple handfuls of nicer grade yellowtail up to 30lbs. Going to keep fishing the island for a little bit longer then head offshore to find some bluefin tuna. We tried the sand bass thing and sat on a really nice school of fish, and caught a lot, but the ratio of the "keeper size" to the "non-keeper size" was a lot higher on the "non-keeper size" for us. It started picking up real good, but there were a lot of short ones. Then I moved up to a different area and capitalized on that ground. Picked away at the barracuda it just got better and better.
